LITTLE BITS POTTERY
A Little Bit About Me
Hi. I want to make pieces that make your day a little bit better.
My journey with clay started with peas. As a
toddler I was fascinated with how my little hands
could mush things together to create dinner-time
companions. In elementary school I was introduced
to a less edible, but longer lasting form of medium,
stoneware. My first piece was constructed of snake
coils, giggles, and spray paint. It was affectionately
called, A Bowl of Joy, because that's all it could
hold. In High School I found an abundance of good vibes
in the pottery studio. This is where I learned that being
able to throw on the wheel starts with being internally
centered.

Winning awards for my pottery validated that I was doing something right.
Walking through the hormone filled halls covered in "slip kisses" felt right.

I spent my last year at Hampshire College focusing on the idea that objects hold more power in the world than we think. For example, there is a reason why we all cling to a specific mug in the morning. The manifestation of the subconscious into a tangible object is my favorite space to play in.

It wasn't until my early twenties that I was diagnosed with a uniquely wired brain. In a nutshell, my life is in a constant state of double vision and my brain is as organized as alphabet soup. As a way to escape I read a lot of poems. My favorite poem is about this little boy who accidentally eats an entire pie. He was so confused because he only ate "little bits." Little did he know, littles bits and little bits add up to a lot of bits.

I want to make pieces that carry that same momentum as that little bit of pie.
